Saginaw Valley State University is a regional public university in University Centre, Michigan — in the Great Lakes Bay Region, serving approximately 7,500 students. The Department of Music is housed in the College of Arts and Behavioral Sciences. SVSU's music programme is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and offers two bachelor's degree pathways: a BA in Music with an emphasis in performance, and a BA in Music Education. The Department features the Rhea Miller Recital Hall alongside rehearsal rooms, practice spaces, and performance ensembles. Applied technology is central to the curriculum — students have access to a 20-seat iMac lab with Ableton Suite workstations, Push 2 pads, a mobile recording studio, and professional music software. Ensembles include the Cardinal Singers, Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Concert Choir, Jazz Ensembles, jazz combos, and brass quintet. Faculty are active directors and performers who bring real-world industry experience to the classroom. Scholarship auditions are available for incoming music students.
