About this program

Roanoke College is a private, Lutheran-affiliated liberal arts college in Salem, Virginia — in the Roanoke Valley, adjacent to the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Appalachian Trail — with an enrollment of approximately 2,000 undergraduates. Roanoke consistently appears on Princeton Review's Top Colleges lists and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. The college offers 35 majors, 57 minors and concentrations across BA, BS, and BBA degrees. The BA in Theatre Arts at Roanoke is a traditional liberal arts degree housed in the Olin Hall Fine Arts Center. The production arm of the program — Theatre Roanoke College (TRC) — presents three mainstage productions per year spanning classics to contemporary works to musicals, and regularly brings outstanding artists-in-residence to campus who both perform and work closely with students. Olin Hall includes the Olin Theater — a multi-purpose performance space — as well as the Studio Theatre, the Olin Hall galleries, and the college's Performing Arts Series of visiting professional artists. Roanoke does not require an audition for admission to the Theatre Arts major. Admissions are through the standard Common App process. Theatre scholarships are available for qualified incoming students. Students may also pursue a May Term program studying theatre in England.
