BA in Theatre
Randolph College — Lynchburg, VA
About this program
Randolph College is a private, nationally recognized liberal arts and sciences institution in Lynchburg, Virginia, with an enrollment of approximately 700 undergraduates. The BA in Theatre at Randolph is the college's liberal arts theatre pathway — it integrates broad general education, a foreign language requirement, and rigorous coursework in acting, directing, design, dramatic literature, and theatre history alongside production participation. Randolph's theatre program is distinguished by the on-campus presence of Endstation Theatre Company, a professional Actors' Equity Association resident theatre company. Led by Associate Professor and Head of Undergraduate Theatre Stephanie Holladay Earl (who also serves as Endstation's Artistic Director), the company provides BA students with direct access to professional equity productions, mentorship from working Equity artists, and genuine professional résumé credits while still enrolled. The Department of Performing Arts presents two to three productions per year in the Thoreson Theatre (a 200-seat mainstage) and the Lab Theatre (a flexible black box space). Capstone senior projects allow graduating theatre majors to research and produce a self-directed work under faculty mentorship. The BA is the appropriate path for students who want the full breadth of a liberal arts education alongside rigorous theatre training, or who plan to combine theatre with other disciplines such as education, English, or arts administration.
