About this program
Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia offers a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Dance with a Performance major for students who wish to pursue acting as a career. ODU is home to ODURep, a professional theatre company in residence that provides students with exceptional professional training opportunities. The Performance major is the pre-professional track within the BA in Theatre and Dance. Students receive mentored training as pre-professionals and must pass an annual spring proficiency audition to remain in the major. Those who do not pass may continue in the general Theatre major. Performance majors are required to audition for ODURep productions each semester and commit to intensive study in acting, movement, and voice.
