BFA in Professional Theatre (Theatre Technology concentration)
North Carolina A & T State University — Greensboro, NC
About this program
NC A&T's BFA in Professional Theatre (Theatre Technology) presupposes that entering students have little or no background in technical theatre and design. The program introduces students to design and provides technical background in the crafts. Every student technician spends at least one semester as a costumer, master carpenter, shop foreman, master electrician, stage manager, sound technician, properties master, costume master, and assistant technical director. Students are given full responsibility for assigned production areas with faculty assistance. Each student serves as technical director on a senior directing project, gaining experience in personnel management, purchasing, and scheduling. The program limits workdays: the constant twelve-hour workdays common at many institutions are not allowed at NC A&T.
