About this program
Kent State University's Hugh A. Glauser School of Music (NASM accredited) offers the BM in Music with concentrations in Instrumental Performance, Piano Performance, Voice Performance, Composition, and Music Education. This professional degree emphasizes intensive specialization. BM Performance candidates must perform both a half-junior recital and a full senior recital. BM Music Education prepares students for Ohio K–12 licensure (recognized in most states) with concentrations in instrumental or choral/general music; includes jazz, folk, musical theatre, and world music alongside Western art music. BM Music Education: half senior recital required. Music Education applicants must also complete a faculty interview at audition. Opera/scenes program and full ensemble participation required.
