About this program
Indiana University South Bend's BA in Theatre is a 'choose-your-own-path degree where you can choose to gain insight into one or multiple areas of study across performance, design and technical production, while also receiving a well-rounded degree with many electives.' No entrance audition required. DEGREE STRUCTURE: Students declare intent to focus on either performance or design and technical production by end of first semester. Students are considered 'pre-Bachelor of Arts' until passing the upper-divisional review. UPPER-DIVISIONAL REVIEW (at 50-60 credit hours): Choose from one of the following options: - Two contrasting monologues (one classic, one contemporary) - One contemporary monologue + one 32-bar audition cut of a Golden Age or contemporary musical theatre song - One contemporary or classic monologue + one 45-second self-choreographed dance piece - Portfolio presentation of your design and/or technical work - Portfolio presentation + one monologue or song (using guidelines above) All students also participate in an interview with faculty. BONUS AUDITION: One bonus entrance audition attempt (not counted as part of the upper-divisional maximum of two) is included in the first semester of matriculation (October entrance auditions).
