About this program
Hanover College's Music concentration allows students to 'choose between a choral or instrumental program and gain practical experience that launches your career or graduate studies.' No audition required for programme admission. 'Majors and non-majors alike participate fully in private lessons, solo performances and group performances.' CHORAL PROGRAM (Dr. Madlen Batchvarova, GRAMMY Award recipient): Concert Choir; Chamber Singers; Contemporary Vocal Ensemble (vocal jazz); Private Voice Studio. Training in bel canto technique; Italian, German, French, Latin, Spanish art songs and opera; Russian, Bulgarian, and Czech repertoire. Soloists for annual Messiah concert. Solo voice concerts at end of Winter Term. INSTRUMENTAL PROGRAM (Dr. Jonathan Stanley): Concert Band; Hanover College-Community Orchestra; Saxophone Ensemble. Ensembles worth 0.25 credit; community members join Tuesday evening Orchestra rehearsals. SENIOR RECITAL (MUS 471): Full senior recital in major applied area (required for music concentration).
