About this program
Hamilton College's Music concentration provides rigorous music study within one of the nation's most selective liberal arts environments. NO AUDITION REQUIRED for admission. RECOMMENDED: Include an audition recording with your application. 'We recommend you include two musical works (or movements of works) that demonstrate contrasting styles, and that best show your musical abilities.' Submit via the applicant portal. 'It will be forwarded to the appropriate faculty member in the Music Department.' MUSIC THEORY PLACEMENT EXAM: 'During the summer, as part of the Online Advising Tour administered by the Registrar, the Music Department offers an online music theory placement exam to each incoming class.' Ensembles open to all students regardless of major. Paid accompanist positions available. Faculty mentorship including Visiting Composer-in-Residence Moira Smiley.
