About this program
Guilford's BA in Theatre Studies offers rigorous training within a Quaker liberal arts setting. 'Classes as challenging as any conservatory in the U.S.' TRACKS: Acting, Design/Technology, Generalist. Students enter as Generalist and petition to enter a track after completing 4+ credits at the 200-level in their desired area. ACTING TRACK REQUIREMENT: Actors must audition for all productions and act in one production every 4 semesters (while on campus). Students who fail to meet this standard return to Generalist track. PRODUCTION AUDITIONS: Open to ALL students regardless of major. 'Auditions are held within the first two weeks of each semester.' Students may also participate in productions backstage through practicum programme, THEA 111, or THEA 195. DISTINGUISHED GUESTS: Edward Albee, Simon Bent, Burke Brown, Tandy Cronyn, Tony Kushner, Maria Irene Fornes, Robbie MacLean, Sidney Poitier, Mark Rucker, Larry Singer, Anna Deavere Smith.
