About this program
Fort Lewis College's BA in Theatre and BA in Theatre Education are liberal arts degrees that do not require an audition for programme admission. The Theatre programme is part of the same Performing Arts Department as Musical Theatre and Music. BA IN THEATRE: A strong liberal arts training programme with an emphasis in comprehensive learning. 'At FLC you'll do this while rounding out your education with humanities, the sciences, and more.' Students explore musical theatre, technical theatre, and other theatre degree standards. BA IN THEATRE EDUCATION: Prepares students to teach theatre in educational settings. FACULTY: Catherine Treischmann — Director of Theatre. Carl Sage — Technical Director. 'The core of theatre is storytelling, and design is storytelling. From the cave paintings and torches of the Neolithic era to the projection mapping and LED lights encountered today everything we do is all in service to the story.' PRODUCTION AUDITIONS: Auditions for productions are open to the FLC community and sometimes the Durango community. All productions require student contributions in scholarly, technical, administrative, and performance aspects. NOTABLE RECENT PRODUCTIONS: Avenue Q; Cabaret; I'm Native And...; Nevermore; Romeo & Juliet; Songs for a New World. SCHOLARSHIPS: Available for both music and theatre students. NATIVE AMERICAN TUITION WAIVER: Eligible Native American students attend tuition-free.
