About this program

In addition to the BFA Musical Theatre and BFA Theatre Performance programs, Florida Southern College offers: BFA IN TECHNICAL THEATRE AND DESIGN: Portfolio review and a letter of recommendation required — no performance audition. Portfolio should demonstrate work in the applicable design/technical area(s). Register for portfolio review at flsouthern.edu/admissions/undergraduate/visits-and-events/theatre-auditions. BA IN THEATRE ARTS: No audition or portfolio required. Open enrollment after FSC admission. BFA IN DANCE PERFORMANCE AND CHOREOGRAPHY: Audition required. Students must audition and be accepted. Dance Audition Dates: Theatre and Dance Day on campus (check flsouthern.edu for dates); individual registration or school registration. Wynee Warden Dance Studio (4,700 sq ft state-of-the-art). Two main productions/year: Fall into Dance (faculty/guest artist choreography) and Spring Dance Concert (historical ballet + faculty/guest artist works). National and international performances: Your Move NJ Modern Dance Festival; American College Dance Association Southeast Festival; Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival. BFA Concert and Emerging Artists Showcase for student choreographers. BA IN DANCE STUDIES: Audition required. Students must audition and be accepted. DANCE MINOR: Audition required. MUSIC AND MUSIC PERFORMANCE: NASM-accredited. Audition required in applied music area. All music majors with scholarships must be enrolled in a major ensemble in their applied area throughout their program. Chair: Dr. Martha Placeres. FESTIVAL OF FINE ARTS: For over 50 years, brings world-class dancers, musicians, and performers to campus; students have opportunities to perform with guest artists in faculty-choreographed and guest-choreographed concerts.
