Five Towns College was founded in 1972 and is located on a 40-acre campus in Dix Hills on Long Island, New York. It is NASM-accredited (music) and NAST-accredited (theatre). The College is described as 'Long Island's Creative College' and ranked by inTune Magazine as one of the Best Colleges for Music in the country. The campus has approximately 700 full and part-time students. ACTING CONCENTRATION — KEY FEATURES: From Freshman Year: Students audition for every show immediately upon arrival — 'you will not wait in line to perform.' Stanislavsky Training: Acting technique using exercises and tools from faculty who have trained directly with Sanford Meisner, Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler, and Uta Hagen. Physical Theatre: Movement; stage combat; Alexander Technique; Viewpoints. Voice and Speech: Voice technique; speech and diction; dialects. Shakespeare: Acting for Shakespeare. Screen Acting: Acting for camera. Private Vocal Coaching: 1-hour private one-on-one vocal coaching every week (included in program). New York City Performances: Two Concert Cabaret performances in New York City per year. Business of Acting: Website building; headshot guidance; resume preparation; industry networking. Additional Elective Classes: Acting for Camera; Comedy Improvisation; Voiceover Training. FACULTY CREDENTIALS: Graduates from Carnegie Mellon (CMU) and Cincinnati Conservatory of Music (CCM) teach in the program. DIVISION CHAIR: Dr. David Krasner.
