Evangel University is a private Christian university in Springfield, Missouri, affiliated with the Assemblies of God. NASM-accredited. The BA in Music Theatre is an integrated programme drawing faculty from both the Theatre and Music departments. No audition required for programme admission. CHRISTIAN WORLDVIEW: The programme prepares students to 'use this degree in both ministry and the marketplace as you influence the performing arts world with your Christian worldview and faith-based approach to performance techniques and musical selections. Both on stage and off, you will be equipped to fulfill your calling to serve the kingdom using your creative abilities and talent.' FACULTY: Experienced faculty with rich real-world performance experience across both Theatre and Music departments. Specific faculty: Tom Matrone, PhD; Larry Dissmore, DMA; Joel Griffin, DMA; Kevin Andrew Hawkins, PhD; Bonnie L. Jenkins, PhD; Matthew Moore, MA; Greg Morris, DMA; Jason Salazar, MM. FACILITIES: Barnett Theatre — 220-seat; small orchestra pit; used for collaborative musicals with Theatre Department. Barnett Recital Hall — 300-seat; also serves as a recording studio. Seymour Chapel (seminary building) — available for Worship Leadership recitals. FINE ARTS SCHOLARSHIPS: Available in the following departments: Communication, Humanities, Music, and Theology and Global Church Ministries. Awards based on talent, ability, and needs within the applicable department. MAJORS AND MINORS: $1,000–$3,000/year for music/theatre major; $1,000–$2,000/year for minors or performance/selection awards. REQUIREMENTS: Submitted scholarship application + audition and/or portfolio evaluation. Major/minor recipients must participate in University groups as a condition of the award. Recipients of a major/minor fine arts award cannot also receive a Fine Arts performance/selection award.
