About this program
ENMU's Theatre Arts programme is housed in the University Theatre Complex (UTC) in Portales, New Mexico, and offers both a BA and a BS in Theatre Arts. No audition is required for programme admission. KEY FACULTY: Leonard Madrid — Playwriting and Acting. L.W. Miller — Designer/Technical Director (MFA, Sarah Lawrence College). Dr. Eric Derr — Audio Technology (DMA, UC San Diego; performer at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center). Jon Barr — Digital Filmmaking (MFA, Temple University). PROGRAMME DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: Approximately 8 productions per year across both stages. Freshman Showcase — performance opportunity for incoming students in their first semester. Mainstage productions + Studio productions + dance productions + new works programme. Students regularly act in student and faculty digital films — the programme's digital filmmaking component (Jon Barr, MFA Temple) distinguishes it from most theatre programmes. Alpha Psi Omega chapter established Fall 2014. Capstone course + optional directed study leading to a senior showcase. FACILITIES — University Theatre Complex (UTC): 419-seat proscenium theatre. 125-seat black box theatre. Full scene shop, costume shop, design studios.
