About this program
Comprehensive and inclusive actor training preparing students for the rapidly changing acting profession and next generation of professionals. Training for stage, screen, and digital platforms. Modules include: acting, rehearsal methods, body and voice, physical theatre, film and TV, devised performance, auditions, and a paid placement year at Year 3 (previously at Leicester's Curve Theatre, professional companies, and corporate industries). London Showcase for graduating students. Graduate entry to Spotlight (professional casting directory). Conservatoire-style approach with significant studio time (up to 30 hours/week contact). Taught at The Sue Townsend Theatre at Leicester College (validated by DMU). 2-year route also available via Leicester College. DMU is recognised as a Centre for Excellence in Performance Arts (PACE) with specialist studios and rehearsal spaces designed specifically for performance learning. Over 27,000 students; internationally diverse; strong industry connections across UK performing arts. Block teaching model: one module at a time for focused engagement.
