About this program
BA Honours in Drama and Theatre Arts at DMU: informed by contemporary performance methods, scholarly thinking, and historical theatrical traditions. Topics include: acting, directing, theatre for social change, and developing your own artistic vision. Students select a route through the degree from: Creative Writing, Education, English Language, English Literature, Film, History, Journalism, or Media. Long-standing partnership with Leicester's iconic Curve Theatre (internships, placements, annual production). 'Exit Souls: The Drama Festival' showcases students' diverse work. Research Institute of Drama, Dance and Performance Studies. Faculty expertise: Shakespeare in performance, popular theatre, applied drama, directing, gender and performance, live art, contemporary performance. Annual paid placement year option in Year 3. DMU is recognised as a Centre for Excellence in Performance Arts (PACE) with specialist studios and rehearsal spaces designed specifically for performance learning.
