Danish National School of Performing Arts — Copenhagen, Capital Region

About this program

Four-year professional actor training programme offered at three campuses: Copenhagen, Aarhus, and Odense. Primarily conducted in Danish. Programme is based on understanding the actor as a creative and interpretive performing artist who can translate dramatic text with presence and originality through conscious use of body and voice. Training areas include: dramatic training (character work, interaction methods, improvisation, genre-specific skills), body and voice (dance, physio drama, stage fighting, body awareness), theatre theory, theoretical acting methods, genre awareness, and historical eras in the performing arts. All three campuses share the same general framework but have distinct practical organisation, specific courses, and collaborative environments: Aarhus — close collaboration with Aarhus Theatre and playwriting programme; Odense — collaboration with Odense Theatre and Danish National Academy of Music; Copenhagen — close work with all other programmes and specialisations. Each spring semester features a project or performance, increasingly culminating in showings for external audiences. Virtually all students have a professional internship in the final year.
