Clemson's BA in Performing Arts Theatre Concentration is a versatile, hands-on degree that can be uniquely tailored to a student's strengths and interests, preparing graduates for a wide range of careers in theatre and the performing arts. The program combines exciting aspects of performance, design, and playwriting in an academically challenging environment. While students specialize, they are introduced to every aspect of a theatrical event — from classical to contemporary, from page-to-stage adaptations to original ensemble-based work. Curriculum includes the history of musical theatre, color theory, Japanese theatre, and language-based dialect study, alongside the traditional acting and theatre design canon. Two emphasis tracks are offered: **Acting** (vocal and physical expression training, character development, scene study) and **Design/Technical Theatre** (scenery, lighting, costume, stage management). Students in both tracks collaborate with Audio Technology and Music students, and work in the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts — a professional roadhouse that hosts touring artists and serves as Clemson's primary performance venue. Students have opportunities to work with faculty, visiting professionals, and companies in the Greenville and Atlanta markets, building professional networks while completing coursework. Masterclasses with touring artists performing at the Brooks Center are a regular feature. All performing arts students share a common core curriculum in addition to their concentration-specific coursework. The small class sizes create a culture of performance excellence, making each student a vital partner in the educational process.
