About this program
The Bachelor of Music in Composition at Cairn University prepares students for careers as composers, arrangers, and music creators, integrating rigorous compositional training with a Christian worldview. The program is offered through Cairn’s NASM-accredited School of Music. Composition students study music theory, ear training, orchestration, counterpoint, form and analysis, and contemporary compositional techniques alongside private composition lessons. Music technology resources include a music technology lab with synthesizers and computers running music education and composition software. Cairn University was NASM-accredited in 1979 and is an All-Steinway School (since 2004). The School of Music exists to educate and prepare students to be musicians of excellence and integrity who glorify God by serving in the church, society, and the world.
