Boise State University is a public research university in Boise, Idaho, founded in 1932. Boise State enrolls approximately 22,000 undergraduate and graduate students across 220 academic programs, making it Idaho’s largest university. Boise State is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) and is classified as an R2 research university. Athletic teams compete as the Broncos in the Mountain West Conference. The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts is offered through the Department of Theatre, Film and Creative Writing within the College of Arts and Sciences. The Theatre program provides theoretical and practical courses in a variety of areas within a liberal arts-based environment. The program produces plays and dance concerts each year that train majors in every aspect of production. Students may pursue careers in the entertainment industry, graduate study in theatre or dance, or teacher certification through the Secondary Education emphasis. The Boise State Theatre Arts Department is an Accredited Institutional Member of the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST). The department is a participating member of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) Region VII, competing with schools from Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Northern California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming; and participates in the Northwest Drama Conference.
