About this program
The Bachelor of Music in Music Education at Bethel University Indiana prepares students for K-12 music teaching, leading to Indiana state teacher licensure. The program is offered through Bethel’s Music & Theatre Department in coordination with the teacher education program. Music Education students complete the music education core curriculum (theory, history, ear training, applied lessons, ensembles), instrumental and/or vocal methods coursework, conducting, music education foundations, field experiences, and student teaching. Music Education majors must apply for formal admission to the music education program during the fall of the second year (Sophomore Interview required). Bethel is a private, Christian university (founded 1947) affiliated with the Missionary Church.
