BA in Theatre
Baylor University — Waco, TX
About this program
Baylor University's Department of Theatre Arts is a nationally recognized, NAST-accredited program named among the top undergraduate theatre programs in the United States, housed within the College of Arts and Sciences at a large Christian research university in Waco, Texas. The BA in Theatre Arts is designed for students seeking a holistic theatre education with the flexibility to pursue additional majors or minors — making it ideal for those planning graduate study or who want to combine theatre with another discipline. The program requires dual admission: students must be accepted by both the university and the Department of Theatre Arts through a formal audition/interview. From the first week, all students are assigned to technical production crews, begin preparing auditions for weekly workshop performances, and are paired with a "Big" — an experienced student mentor. The department produces approximately 8 full productions per year, ranging from Shakespeare to pop musicals, and recently launched the bi-annual Baylor New Play Initiative (BNPI), which awards the $15,000 Kirk New Play Prize.
