BFA in Theatre — Acting Concentration
Youngstown State University — Youngstown, OH
About this program
Youngstown State University's Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre with an Acting concentration is a professional, audition-based degree for students with ambitions to perform on stage, work behind the scenes, or lead from the director's chair. The experiential curriculum fosters discipline and artistic agency through broad-based foundational training that emphasizes critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and risk-taking. Students receive individualized attention and engage in immersive studio and stage experiences — practical skills are developed through hands-on training, rehearsals, and live performances. The co-curricular theatre season features four mainstage productions simulating real-world professional experiences, and all BFA Theatre students are required to audition and participate. YSU's University Theatre has offered professional training for over 60 years.
