Virginia Wesleyan University (VWU) is a private United Methodist liberal arts university founded in 1961, located in Virginia Beach, Virginia (~1,600 students). VWU received the All-Steinway designation in 2020 — all pianos on campus are Steinway & Sons designs. The Susan S. Goode Fine and Performing Arts Center (2019) houses a 325-seat Joan and Macon Brock Theatre. Acceptance rate: approximately 75%. The BAM — Choral and Vocal Studies Track focuses on choral conducting, vocal performance, choral literature, and vocal pedagogy. Students receive applied voice lessons throughout all four years, participate in choral ensembles (Chamber Choir, Gospel Choir), and develop skills for careers in choral directing, church music, vocal performance, and vocal instruction. Senior recital is the culminating requirement.
