BA in Musical Theatre Performance
University of West London — London, England
About this program
The BA (Hons) Musical Theatre Performance at University of West London, validated by MPAA, is an intensive three-year training program designed to develop triple threat performers in acting, singing, and dance. Headed by Kevin Fountain LRAM ARAM ALCM, the program emphasizes technical skill development through classes, workshops, and performances. Students receive private tuition in singing and acting from Year 1, with vocal training grounded in the Estill Voice Training System. The curriculum integrates ensemble singing, history of musical theatre, acting, improvisation, and comprehensive dance training (ballet, jazz, tap, musical theatre, commercial, contemporary, and choreography). Physical conditioning through pilates, tricks class, and body work ensures performers maintain peak fitness. The program features three public performances annually—a cabaret, a dance-based show, and a full-scale musical with orchestra—plus an Agent Showcase in Year 3. Students collaborate with industry professionals including directors, musical directors, choreographers, and designers on internal and external projects performed at venues including Sadler's Wells and professional theatre spaces. The program emphasizes industry-led learning with masterclasses and talks from West End and Broadway professionals, preparing graduates for careers as versatile, confident performers.
