About this program

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Devised Performance and Theatre Creation at the University of Regina is designed for students passionate about creating original theatre projects. This program is the only one of its kind in Western Canada specifically dedicated to the study and performance of devised theatre and performance creation. Students develop a holistic, inclusive, and forward-thinking approach to theatre artistry, learning to produce fresh, original work through collaborative processes. The program equips students with skills in voice, movement, acting, devising, writing, design, dramaturgy, and technical theatre. Through devised performance—a collaborative process where theatre artists create original works without relying on pre-written scripts—students create both solo and collaborative performances while building a strong foundation in theatre practice. The program emphasizes originality, collaboration, and innovation, preparing graduates for professional opportunities in theatre and beyond, while also developing transferable skills such as public speaking, teamwork, creative problem-solving, and critical thinking.
