BA in Film, Television and Theatre

University of Notre Dame — Notre Dame, IN

BATheatre (General)Notre Dame, IN

About this program

The University of Notre Dame's Film, Television and Theatre program offers a distinctive liberal arts approach to studying stories on stage and screen. Students choose to concentrate in film, television, or theatre, completing ten courses (30 credit hours) with a mix of required core classes and electives. The program uniquely combines design and production, writing and performance, history and theory, requiring all majors to engage with at least one course focused on non-US media, performance cultures, or the study of identity and cultural power. Beyond the classroom, FTT students have extensive opportunities to extend their education through auditions for plays and musicals, writing and directing films, completing senior thesis projects, and undertaking internships. The department maintains a strong creative and scholarly relationship across its concentrations, with film and television students exploring production and critical studies, while theatre concentrators benefit from overlapping historical, theoretical, and cultural learning opportunities.
