The University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance (SMTD) is one of the most distinguished performing arts schools at any public university in the world, combining the depth and rigour of a conservatoire with the academic breadth of a top-ranked public research university. Located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and enrolling approximately 900 undergraduates, SMTD offers more than 40 undergraduate and 25 graduate degree programmes. Faculty are accomplished artists and scholars devoted to training, mentoring, and inspiring students. Ann Arbor is consistently named one of the best college towns in the United States. SMTD does not offer Early Action or Early Decision; most programme applications are due December. The school is test-optional. Academic minimum: GPA 3.0 or better (unweighted, grades 9-11). Online/recorded auditions are available for most programmes and are considered on an equal basis with in-person auditions.
