About this program

The Hartt School is the performing arts conservatory of the University of Hartford, a private university of approximately 5,000 students in West Hartford, Connecticut. Founded in 1920, the Hartt School is one of the leading conservatories in the United States, offering professional-level training in music, dance, and theatre within a university setting. Hartt is distinguished by its close partnerships with Hartford Stage Company (Tony Award-winning regional theatre) and Goodspeed Musicals — two of America's finest professional companies — which give students direct on-stage experiences before graduation that are unmatched at most university programmes. BFA Music Theatre students spend three weeks in residence at Goodspeed Musicals in their fourth year working on a Festival of New Musicals. Music Theatre and Actor Training students may also audition for Hartford Stage's annual production of A Christmas Carol and other Equity productions in its season. Hartt has been included in DanceUS.org's list of best college dance programs in the USA for six consecutive years. All accepted students are automatically considered for scholarships of up to full tuition, renewable annually for the length of their programme. National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD) accredited. Tuition: approximately $46,000/year (confirm at hartford.edu). Contact: harttadm@hartford.edu.
