BM in Music Theory
University of Delaware — Newark, DE
About this program
The University of Delaware is the flagship public research university of Delaware, enrolling approximately 23,000 undergraduates in Newark — a vibrant college town of 35,000 located midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore (each 45 minutes away), with New York City and Washington, D.C. also within easy reach. The College of Arts and Sciences houses both the School of Music and the Department of Theatre and Dance. UD's performing arts are distinguished by two exceptional assets: the Resident Ensemble Players (REP) — Delaware's resident professional acting company, operating on campus and using the same facilities and stage crews as the Theatre and Dance undergraduate programme — and the School of Music's Grammy Award-winning faculty (including members of Alarm Will Sound). Facilities include the Roselle Center for the Arts (CFA; five distinct performance venues), the Amy E. duPont Music Building (440-seat Loudis Recital Hall, teaching studios, rehearsal rooms), and a renovated historic church housing the custom-built Edward and Naomi Jefferson Organ (22-rank Dobson pipe organ). In-state tuition: approximately $13,500/year; out-of-state: approximately $37,000/year (confirm at udel.edu).
