About this program

The University of Chichester is a public university founded in 1839 in Chichester, West Sussex — 65 miles south-west of London and near the South Downs National Park. Chichester's performing arts portfolio is one of the most comprehensive in the UK, with a globally recognized musical theatre programme, an exceptionally large conservatoire-style music department, and a distinctive dance department. The University of Chichester Conservatoire (music and musical theatre) has a community of over 400 student performers, six orchestras, nine large ensembles, five choirs, and more than 70 small ensembles. Facilities include Steinway & Sons grand pianos, computerised recording and media studios, a suite of 30+ practice rooms, dedicated dance studios with Harlequin flooring, dedicated pit band and orchestral rehearsal rooms, and on- and off-campus performance venues. The Dance Department is home to mapdance (professional company), 3Fall, and other in-house professional companies, and offers some of the UK's most distinctive dance degrees including the first aerial dance undergraduate degree in the UK. The Stage and Screen (Musical Theatre) department partners with the Alexandra Theatre (Bognor Regis) and the New Theatre Royal (Portsmouth) for second- and third-year productions — guaranteeing professional-venue performance opportunities. Additional industry partnerships include Chichester Festival Theatre, Talent Artistic Group (TAG), and Sonic Artists. Spotlight accreditation for graduating musical theatre students provides discounted access to the UK's premier casting database. The University considers applicants with high performance skills for reduced academic entry tariffs. Contextual offers are available (typically 16 UCAS points lower than standard). All performance courses require an audition. Auditions typically run from approximately December to March/April; booked via the ChiView portal after submitting a UCAS application. UK home tuition: approximately £9,535/year (confirm current fees at chi.ac.uk); International fees: confirm at chi.ac.uk/international. Apply via UCAS: ucas.com.
