About this program
The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is a large public university founded in 1828, located in Preston, Lancashire, in the north-west of England. UCLan ranks among the UK's top-ranked universities in the Times Good University Guide. Its Preston campus — the main campus — is a short walk from Preston city center and well connected by rail to Manchester (30 minutes) and London (2 hours). The School of Arts and Media houses performing arts programmes in acting, music theatre, dance, theatre and performance, and sound design. UCLan's performing arts facilities are centered in The Media Factory — a purpose-built, state-of-the-art building with recording studios, black box theatres, television studios, radio studios, motion capture suite, green screen technology, professionally equipped studio theatre spaces, and rehearsal rooms. Major performances and public shows are staged in St Peter's Arts Center, UCLan's dedicated arts performance venue in the heart of campus. The performing arts faculty are all active industry practitioners with proven professional experience. UCLan has strong industry connections across the UK entertainment industry. Notable alumni: Mandip Gill (Doctor Who's Yaz, Coronation Street's Phelan's daughter) from Acting; performers currently in national touring shows from Music Theatre.
