About this program
UC Santa Barbara is a top-ranked research university on a beachfront campus in Santa Barbara, California, one of the most scenically beautiful campuses in the US system. Founded in 1944, it enrolls approximately 25,000 students. The Department of Music and the Department of Theater and Dance are within the College of Letters and Science. The Theater and Dance Department is nationally recognized for its BFA Acting and BFA Dance programs, both of which provide conservatory-style training within the research university setting. The Department hosts Santa Barbara Dance Theater as a resident professional dance company, and the UCSB Dance Company tours statewide, nationally, and internationally including at the Kennedy Center.
