BA in Film and Television
University of Arizona — Tucson, AZ
About this program
The University of Arizona (UA / UArizona) is a public research university founded in 1885, the flagship of the Arizona university system, located in Tucson, Arizona — recognized as one of the oldest universities in the Southwest. With approximately 50,000 students, UA is classified as a very high research activity (R1) institution. Performing arts programs are housed within the College of Fine Arts (CFA), also branded as Arizona Arts, which encompasses four schools: the Fred Fox School of Music, the School of Theatre Film & Television (TFTV), the School of Dance, and the School of Art. The Fred Fox School of Music was named in 2015 following a $20 million gift and is an all-Steinway school with NASM accreditation. Its principal performance spaces are Crowder Hall (530 seats, concert hall) and Holsclaw Hall (recital hall), both in the Music Building at 1017 N. Olive Road. The Jeffrey Haskell Recording Studio is a professional recording facility within the Music Building. TFTV is nationally ranked: the film program consistently places among the top 10 public film schools (ranked #2 public by The Wrap in 2024). TFTV's home venue is the Marroney Theatre, renovated and reopened in fall as a state-of-the-art flexible 400-seat space within the Drama Building. The School of Dance's home is the award-winning Stevie Eller Dance Theatre (300 seats, opened 2003) with a full-fly system and orchestra pit, adjacent to the Ina Gittings Building. UA's location near the Sonoran Desert, proximity to Tucson's professional arts community and the Mexican border, and access to Los Angeles (TFTV LA Partnership with Film Independent) give its students distinctive professional opportunities. In-state tuition is approximately $12,700/year; out-of-state approximately $36,400/year.
