About this program
University College Cork (UCC) is a public research university established in 1845, located in Cork, Ireland. One of four constituent universities of the National University of Ireland (NUI), UCC enrolls approximately 26,000 students and is ranked among the top 300 universities globally (QS World University Rankings 2026: #246) and top 100 for Performing Arts. UCC was named Irish University of the Year a record five times. The School of Film, Music and Theatre (FMT) — headed by John Godfrey (Head of School, Senior Lecturer in Music) — is internationally recognized for performance practice, scholarship, and creative research. The Department of Theatre is adjacent to the Granary Theatre and maintains close partnerships with Cork Opera House, Everyman Palace Theatre, Triskel Arts Center, and Firkin Crane. The Department of Music hosts the FUAIM Friday Lunchtime Concert series, the Collegial Choir, and ensembles spanning classical, traditional Irish, gamelan, jazz, and contemporary music. For EU/EEA/UK/Irish students eligible under the Free Fees Initiative, UCC undergraduate tuition is paid by the State (students pay an annual student contribution and capitation fee of approximately €3,207). Non-EU international undergraduate fees for Arts programmes are approximately €16,400-18,400 per year; CACSSS programmes carry an automatic scholarship (15% reduction, with a €2,000 grant also available). The €50 UCCApply application fee applies for non-EU applicants.
