About this program
Truman State University's BA Theatre program provides students with comprehensive practical and theoretical knowledge in all facets of theatre production. Whether interested in performing, designing, directing, choreographing, constructing, or technical work, students develop critical-thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills applicable to careers in theatre and beyond. The program is housed within the Communication and Theatre Department and features dedicated facilities including performance spaces, scene shop, costume shop, acting lab, design lab, and support areas. Theatre graduates have pursued diverse career paths including acting, technical theatre, theatre management, as well as fields such as communication, marketing, education, business management, and law. Alumni have worked and studied at prestigious institutions including the American Shakespeare Center, Arena Stage, American Repertory Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Walt Disney World, and Chicago Shakespeare Theatre.
