About this program
NEC's Bachelor of Music in classical instrumental performance is offered in the following majors: Bassoon, Cello, Clarinet, Double Bass, Euphonium, Flute, French Horn, Guitar, Harp, Oboe, Percussion, Piano, Saxophone, Trombone, Trumpet, Tuba, Viola, and Violin. Students receive extensive training in their major, comprehensive instruction in music theory and music history, and an introduction to liberal arts disciplines through NEC's integrative curriculum, electives, and access to coursework at other Boston institutions. Founded in 1867, NEC is one of the oldest and most prestigious conservatories in the United States. NEC maintains a formal BSO x NEC Alliance, and NEC reports that half of the Boston Symphony Orchestra comprises NEC faculty and alumni.
