BA in Theatre & Performance Studies
The College of Wooster — Wooster, OH
About this program
The College of Wooster's BA in Theatre & Performance Studies emphasizes the relationship between scholarship, artistry, and advocacy through investigation of the human experience. The program is rooted in a liberal arts approach that combines rigorous coursework with practical stage work. The Department of Theatre and Dance is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive learning environment and equitable opportunities. The curriculum examines acting, directing, dance, design, technology, management, history, literature, playwriting, theory, and artistic activism with a focus on social justice. A hallmark of the program is the Senior Independent Study (I.S.), where students develop year-long research projects that may culminate in a production component such as choreography, acting recitals, directing, playwriting, design, or devised performance pieces. The department produces two mainstage productions per semester (one theatre, one dance), fall and spring dance concerts, student-directed works, and regular guest artist collaborations, providing broad performance experiences across four years.
