About this program
The State University of New York at Fredonia is a comprehensive liberal arts campus in Fredonia, New York — a small college town on Lake Erie in western New York — with an overall acceptance rate of 85%. SUNY Fredonia has the most comprehensive selection of theatrical degree programmes in the SUNY system, offering BFA degrees in Acting, Dance, Musical Theatre, and Theatrical Production & Design, a BA in Theatre Arts, and a BS in Dance. The Department is fully NAST-accredited. The Michael C. Rockefeller Arts Center (RAC) recently underwent a major renovation and expansion, including a 60,000-square-foot studio wing added in 2016. The RAC is consistently listed as one of the 25 most amazing college theatre complexes in the United States, and houses four performance spaces: the 1,200-seat Harry King Concert Hall, the 360-seat Robert W. Marvel Theatre, the 150-seat Alice E. Bartlett Theatre, and the 100-seat Merrins Studio Theatre. Students have access to four acting studios, four dance studios, a costume shop, scene shop, light and sound lab, drawing and drafting lab, and computer-aided drafting lab.
