BFA in Musical Theatre
Stephens College — Columbia, MO
About this program
Stephens College is the second-oldest women's college in the United States, founded in 1833 in Columbia, Missouri — a vibrant college town. The Conservatory for the Performing Arts at Stephens College offers a distinctive set of accelerated BFA programmes, each completed in three years plus two summers (eight semesters total) through an intensive, learn-by-doing conservatory model. The Conservatory explicitly welcomes all gender identities. The BFA in Musical Theatre at Stephens requires a video audition (songs, monologue, dance) submitted via Acceptd. All BFA Musical Theatre and Acting students train at the professional Okoboji Summer Theatre in Iowa — one of the country's oldest outdoor repertory stock theatres — providing authentic professional production credit before graduation. Broadway professionals and industry leaders teach master classes regularly. Alumni include Elizabeth Mitchell (Once Upon a Time, Lost, The Santa Clauses, Outer Banks) and performers from regional theatre and touring companies across the country.
