State University of New York at Plattsburgh — Plattsburgh, NY
About this program
SUNY Plattsburgh's Bachelor of Arts in Theatre is a student-centered program that emphasizes collaborative, inclusive, and creative exploration of all aspects of theatrical arts. The program invites students to engage as actors, designers, technicians, directors, stage managers, puppeteers, dramaturgs, and more, while participating in play selection, production meetings, and providing input on theatre classes. The curriculum is rooted in consent-based and anti-racist practices, creating brave spaces where students are seen as whole people. The department is committed to inclusivity for neurodivergent students, including those with autism, dyslexia, and ADHD, making appropriate adjustments to classes and creative processes. With a 43-credit major requirement, students explore performance, directing, design, technical production, dramatic literature, dramaturgy, and theatre history through practical experiential applications and creative problem-solving.
