About this program
SUNY Oswego's BA in Theatre offers a unique, hands-on learning experience where students are placed at the center of the creative process. With a dedicated faculty, professional staff, and world-class technology resources, the program welcomes students of all skill and interest levels. The curriculum features a flexible core and elective structure that allows students to focus on their specific areas of interest while gaining valuable experience across diverse theatrical disciplines. Students have access to multiple performance venues, including black box studio spaces and the recently renovated 426-seat Waterman Theatre (proscenium stage). The department produces three to four productions annually, featuring a range of work from classical canon and modern plays to musical theatre, devised works, student-directed and designed productions, and site-specific theatre. All students involved in productions receive immediate hands-on opportunities throughout their degree program.
