BA in Theatre
Saint Michael's College — Colchester, VT
About this program
Saint Michael's College is a private Catholic liberal arts institution in Colchester, Vermont — just minutes from Burlington — founded in 1904 by the Society of Saint Edmund. The college enrols approximately 1,100 undergraduates in a fully residential setting on a 440-acre campus between Lake Champlain and the Green Mountains. Saint Michael's holds a Phi Beta Kappa chapter and has a 10:1 student-faculty ratio. The Fine Arts Department — housed in the McCarthy Arts Center (opened 1975) — offers a BA in Theatre and a BA in Music. The McCarthy Arts Center features the Main Stage Theatre, Recital Hall, art gallery, and rehearsal spaces. The theatre programme produces two mainstage productions annually alongside senior seminar performances and a 24-hour Play Festival. Saint Michael's Playhouse (professional summer theatre founded 1947) historically provided students with behind-the-scenes professional exposure; while the Playhouse itself has evolved, the college's commitment to professional-quality production has continued through the McCarthy Arts Center.
