BFA in Theatre — Theatre Management
Rockford University — Rockford, IL
About this program
Rockford University is a private liberal arts university in Rockford, Illinois — the state's third-largest city and a major manufacturing and cultural hub approximately 90 miles northwest of Chicago — with an enrollment of approximately 1,000 students. Notable as the birthplace of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Jane Addams (Class of 1882), the university maintains a strong civic and arts tradition. The BFA in Theatre at Rockford is offered through the Department of Performing Arts, housed in the Clark Arts Center, which features the Maddox Theatre (proscenium) and the Cheek Theatre (black box). The department produces five to six main-stage and student productions per year and describes its mission as providing "a rich liberal arts tradition supported by talented professors with years of experience in music and theatre. Whether your next stage is graduate school or Broadway, you'll be ready to shine." An audition is required for admission to the BFA. An optional semester of study abroad at Regents College in London is available to BFA students in the Musical Theatre track.
