BS in Music Education
Roberts Wesleyan University — Rochester, NY
About this program
Roberts Wesleyan University is a private, Christ-centered liberal arts university in Rochester, New York, affiliated with the Wesleyan holiness tradition, with an enrollment of approximately 1,200 traditional undergraduates. Roberts is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), and its Music Therapy program is approved by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA). The campus is located approximately 15 minutes from downtown Rochester. The Department of Music and Performing Arts is known for its proximity to the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra — 12 of the department's music faculty perform professionally with the RPO, providing students with extraordinary access to professional mentorship and real-world performance networks. The Cultural Life Center (CLC) on campus houses the Hale Auditorium (974 seats), the Shewan Recital Hall, and the Cox Auditorium, along with large teaching studios and practice rooms. Roberts offers four music degrees: BA in Music, BS in Music Performance, BS in Music Education, and BS in Music Therapy. All four require an audition for admission. Two full-tuition scholarships are available annually to incoming first-year music students who audition. Regardless of when students audition, all admitted music students are eligible for music scholarships based on performance level and potential. Roberts also offers music, jazz, and theatre minors for non-music majors. No double major is permitted within the Department of Music and Performing Arts.
