About this program
Piedmont University is a private liberal arts university of approximately 2,500 students in Demorest, in the mountains of northeast Georgia. The Department of Theatre and the Department of Music both offer undergraduate degrees, and the performing arts are central to campus life. Theatre performances are staged in three venues: the W.R. Cleere Mainstage Theater (350-seat indoor), the Blackbox Theater, and the outdoor Arrendale Amphitheater, housed within the Swanson Center for Performing Arts and Communications. Recent mainstage productions have included Carousel, Cabaret, and A Chorus Line. Piedmont takes seriously its place as an institution of learning in the performing arts, and faculty have both academic and professional experience. Music majors perform in recitals, ensemble concerts, and collaborative productions with the Theatre department.
