BFA in Theatre Performance — Acting and Musical Theatre
Ohio University — Athens, OH
About this program
Ohio University's BFA in Theater Performance encompasses both acting and musical theater training. The program is process-based, centered on authentic use of self, the reality of doing, and collaborative ensemble work. Acting, movement, voice and speech are taught in a linear four-year progression, with studio classes emphasizing the emotional life and collaborative process. Musical theater training focuses on strong actor training combined with singing and the creation of new musical theater — students work in productions from musicals to cabarets to devised pieces. The School of Theater produces 9-12 full-length productions per year and provides internship opportunities at Actors Theater of Louisville, Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, and other leading regional theaters.
