About this program

The Kitt School of Music's BM in Music Performance provides interactive performance training in either voice or instrument, backed by coursework in theory, ear training, music history, and musical genres. The Voice emphasis requires demonstrated proficiency in French, German, or Italian. BM Performance students enroll in private lesson instruction for a minimum of 7 semesters (MUP 111, 211, 311, 411 — 2 terms each of 111/211/311 and 1 term of 411), totaling 21 units. Choral/Vocal majors complete 10 terms of large conducted ensembles (2 terms of Opera Theatre plus 8 terms chosen from Shrine of the Ages Choir, Men's Chorale, and Women's Chorale). Instrumental majors complete 8 units of major ensemble (Symphony Orchestra, Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, or Marching Band; Guitar majors take Guitar Ensemble; Piano majors take Piano Ensemble). All BM Performance students enroll in 4 terms of Chamber Music.
