About this program

Northeastern's BA in Music engages students in the study of how music works and the many contexts in which it is created and received. The foundation is the unique introductory course MUSC 1001 Music in Everyday Life, which investigates many dimensions of the musical experience and music's contributions to society. Students encounter a wide range of musical repertoires, theoretical approaches, and research strategies. Many students double-major alongside engineering, sciences, business, humanities, or social sciences. The degree requires 48 semester hours in the major with a minimum 2.667 GPA (B-) in the major's requirements. Students on probation for two consecutive semesters are dropped from the major.
